Pinups of female lingerie models have always been popular and in the post-war era Playboy magazine has furthered this popularity with it's playmates and centrefolds but the rise of the pin-up can be traced back to the early Hollywood starlets such as Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe (who was also the first Playboy covergirl) right through to todays female stars such as Scarlett Johanssen and Keira Knightley.
